Qatar inks technology deal for Doha metro

By Sarah Townsend

Qatar Rail has granted conditional approval for a systems package needed to construct the planned Doha Metro.

A consortium of technology firms comprising Mitsubishi Heavy industries, Mitsubishi Corporation, Hitachi, Kinki Sharyo and Thales is now expected to supply all the systems needed to run the driverless metro network – including the power system, tracks and tunnel ventilation, signalling, platform screens, automated doors and fare collection systems.

The package also includes a 20-year maintenance deal once the systems are complete, reports the Gulf Times. More info
